1-Azido-4-fluorobenzene (CAS 3296-02-4) is an aryl azide click chemistry reagent with molecular formula C₆H₄FN₃ and MW 137.11 g/mol. It is also known as 4-fluorophenyl azide and p-fluorophenyl azide.
This compound bears an aryl azide group para to a fluorine substituent on the benzene ring. In copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), the azide reacts with terminal alkynes to form stable 1,2,3-triazole linkages under mild conditions. The para-fluoro group provides a handle for nucleophilic aromatic substitution, enabling further functionalization or serving as a metabolic/spectroscopic label in biological studies.
