1,1-Dimethylethyl 4-azido-1-piperidinecarboxylate (CAS 180695-80-1) is a Boc-protected piperidine azide building block for click chemistry and medicinal chemistry applications, with molecular formula C₁₀H₁₈N₄O₂ and MW 226.28 g/mol. It is also known as 1-Boc-4-azidopiperidine.

The compound bears a terminal organic azide at the 4-position of the piperidine ring and a Boc carbamate on the ring nitrogen. The azide participates in copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) with terminal alkynes, or in strain-promoted SPAAC with cyclooctynes, yielding stable 1,2,3-triazole linkages. The Boc group provides orthogonal nitrogen protection, enabling selective deprotection and further functionalization of the piperidine nitrogen after conjugation.
