Description
AZD5582 (CAS 1258392-53-8) is a dimeric Smac mimetic and potent antagonist of inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs), with molecular formula C₅₈H₇₈N₈O₈ and MW 1015.30 g/mol.
AZD5582 is reported to act as a bivalent IAP antagonist, simultaneously engaging the BIR3 domains of XIAP, cIAP1, and cIAP2 through its symmetric dimeric architecture. This dual engagement promotes cIAP1/2 autoubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, thereby relieving IAP-mediated suppression of caspase activity and enabling activation of both intrinsic and extrinsic apoptotic pathways.
